Makeup Brushes Cleaning Guide

When did you clean your makeup brushes last time? Don’t remember? Well, you are not alone. According to different surveys, more than 40% of people who use makeup brushes clean them less than once per month. Moreover, 19% said that they hadn’t even known that they needed to do it.

Brushes are handy when it comes to applying make-up. However, if you neglect cleaning them, makeup residue, oil and dead skin can collect on makeup brushes and impact your skin’s health. We are sure you don’t want that. Plus, dirty makeup brushes can lead to a streaky finish and spoil your make-up.

To avoid all these problems, you need to clean makeup brushes at least once a week. It doesn’t take you a lot of time. You don’t need to buy some specific products for brush washing. All you need is about 10 minutes of your time and gentle soap.

However, if you want to clean your makeup tools even more thoroughly, you can buy such tools as Silicone Makeup Brush Cleaner or Electric Makeup Brush Cleaner

So, here is a simple guide on how to wash your makeup brushes:

  1. Wet the bristles with warm water
  2. Place a drop of your cleaning gel or soap in the center of your palm
  3. Gently massage the tips of the bristles in your palm
  4. Rinse the bristles thoroughly
  5. Squeeze out the excess moisture with a clean towel
  6. Re-form the brush head back into its original shape
  7. Let the brush dry with its bristles hanging off the edge of a counter, which allows it to dry in the correct shape

By the way, if you are not sure if you washed all the makeup residue off your brushes, you can use a whigt paper towel. Check if your brush leaves a mark or a stain in it. Wash the brush one more time if necessary.
